Serving those in need one food parcel at a time

In almost every area of London a growing numer of families are dependent on food banks and food parcels to get by. Many of our churches provide this significant and important resource. Melvin Dawson of Grange Hill Methodist Church got in touch to tell us how they are providing this service.

Grange Hill Methodist Church now acts as a referral agency for the Redbridge Food Bank and also has emergency food boxes that can be given out to those in need. The number of volunteers has been increasing (currently at 15), with three of these coming from the local community. There are other volunteers, but due to the current risk from COVID are unable to help at the current time.

We have three day emergency food boxes at Grange Hill for those struggling to put food on their tables, the boxes were prepared by the Redbridge Foodbank. Those in need should visit Grange Hill Methodist Church on a Saturday morning between 10am and 12noon. The Church is located on the corner of Holt Way and Burrow Road, Chigwell, Essex. IG7 4HQ.

Additional volunteers are always welcome.
