Living God,
we thank you for the great diversity
of people
and the rich variety

of gifts with which
you have blessed us:

As we seek to be
good news
In our local communities and
this global City;

May the grace of your Son inspire us;

the wisdom of your Spirit teach us;

and the strength of your presence sustain us,

We ask this for your glory’s sake.
Amen.

Prayer Handbook
The London District Prayer Handbook for 2011-12 is available to download as a PDF.

This Week’s Prayer Focus

Global city focus:

Pray for Hospitals and Hospices and other health care providers, patients, staff including Revd Dani Wright and full time hospital chaplains – Revd Julia Wiktorska, Revd John Sakutombo and Hospice Chaplain – Revd Andrew Goodhead.

Circuit City Focus: 35/40 Purley

Superintendent: Revd Faith Nyota

Give thanks and Pray for:
1.  The work that Churches have done and continue to do in reviewing their mission.  The lay people, paid and volunteers, who work tirelessly throughout the Circuit.

2.  The further development of the creative use of local people in owning their worship - either through worship leaders or the creation of groups willing to undertake locally arranged worship.

3.  God's discernment for the way forward, that new ways may emerge to support and encourage mission.

4.  The Circuit and Churches to find ways to attract new and younger congregations and continued growth of the young people.

5.  Coulsdon Church as they look at the future needs of their community which will shape future building proposals.

6.  The Local Preachers in our Circuit.  Pray that God will raise up new Local Preachers over the coming year and that He will continue to bless Curtis and Brian as they continue their studies.

Lord enable your people to listen to you, to each other and to those in need. Our world needs people who respond to your call to share the world’s resources and to be generous in our creativity, our time, our energy and our money. Help those who have little or who have lost work and who struggle daily and give your church a sense of your priorities as we learn how best to express your love for all people in each community and in the global community.

Welcome to the London District of the Methodist Church

London is different! It is a place of exceptional diversity, vibrancy and energy. Its excitement, complexity and challenges are unequalled. The Methodist Church in London shares those qualities and our mission as disciples of Jesus Christ is to respond creatively to the opportunities and needs of this unique city.

In a pioneering collaborative structure three Chairs, Rev Jenny Impey and Rev Dr Stuart Jordan and Rev Ermal Kirby work with a team of paid and voluntary officers to support and develop the life of the District.

The team serves 22,000 registered members of Methodist Churches in London, and many more people who are involved in our work and worship.

Our calling within the Connexional witness of British Methodism is to be "Good News in a Global City"

Details of our work and the resources to support it can be found here.
