Sadaqa Day in Calais
Sadaqa Day is a Muslim day of generosity, when the constant obligation to look after those in need is focused through giving, of money, yes but more importantly of time.
Next week, to mark Sadaqa Day this year, a group of Muslim, Christian and Jewish women are travelling in convoy to the Women’s Resource Centre in Calais to take aid to women and children there. Chair of District, the Revd Michaela Youngson is travelling as part of the group and is taking tents, sleeping bags and tarpaulins on behalf of the District as our contribution to this aid convoy. It is possible to donate other goods via an Amazon Wishlist.

Some of the time at the WRC will be spent helping sort goods in the warehouse and some spent with the women and children in activities that help them to feel cherished and cared for.
We look forward to hearing about the visit and will report on it on the Moving Stories pages of the District Website.
