A Prayer from the Wembley Circuit

Monday 16 January 2023

Sexism, Homophobia, Xenophobia

O God, our brokenness comes in many guises.

Forgive us that we prefer the darkness of our prejudices to the light of your love.

Forgive us that we ridicule one another instead of sitting around the same table.

Yet, O God, you call us to be one.

One is serving you with every fibre of our being.

One in desiring the best for each other.

One in our commitment to slay the beast of injustice that still stalks this land.

Inspire us, through the Holy Spirit, to commit to lasting change so that your healing hand may be seen.

In the name of Christ, who calls us to be one.

Amen.

The Wembley Circuit asks you to please pray for:

  • For the people exploring confirmation at this present time. We pray that they may grow in the knowledge and grace of God and inspire other Christians as they walk closer with God.

  • For Sudbury Methodist Church as the Neighbourhood Centre ceases to be. We thank God for the many lives that were transformed by this outreach work, started by local Christians in the area, on Methodist premises. We ask for clarity as the church seeks a way forward that will continue to honour God.

  • For stronger lay leadership in the Circuit. May we find new way to involve members in the life of the Wembley churches and Circuit.

Written by Revd Sonia Hicks, Wembley Circuit Superintendent.
