Statement relating to Katherine Price Hughes House
For over 50 years the West London Mission of the Methodist Church has been delivering residential and support services to men on probation through contracts with the Ministry of Justice, and previously with the Home Office. These services have been delivered from the purpose-built hostel – Katherine Price Hughes (KPH) House at Highbury Grove, Islington.
The West London Mission is no longer able to contract such vital services in the challenging circumstances of today’s world. The Mission therefore decided to lease KPH House in a way that enables these important services within the community to be carried forward with a new provider.
Accordingly, the Mission are today announcing that the Langley Trust will take over these vital services, together with the existing staff, with effect from 1 October 2026 under a new contract with the Ministry of Justice.
Rev. Peter Cornick, Chair of Trustees of the West London Mission, said today:
‘On behalf of the trustees of the West London Mission, I wanted to thank the staff at KPH House for their dedication and the work achieved with many residents. This work has been over many years and so the trustees also wish to thank people who have moved on but have helped to build the community of KPH.  Having spoken to residents over the years, I know how much they have valued their time at KPH and for many, it has been life changing. For all that has been accomplished, let us give thanks.
‘KPH will now enter a new era under new management. We at the West London Mission want to wish Langley Trust and all the staff and residents, every good wish for the future.’
Tracy Wild, Chief Executive of Langley Trust, said today:
‘We are delighted to confirm that Langley Trust has been appointed by the Ministry of Justice as the new provider of services at Katherine Price Hughes House (KPHH), an Independent Approved Premises in Islington, from today, 1 October 2026.
While the provider will change today, the nature of the service will remain unchanged, ensuring continuity of support for residents and partners.
Founded in 1958, Langley Trust is a national Christian charity with extensive experience of delivering accommodation, rehabilitation and resettlement services for people leaving prison. The charity already operates Independent Approved Premises on behalf of the Ministry of Justice and has a strong track record of supporting people to rebuild their lives and reduce reoffending.
All Independent Approved Premises operate within standards set by the Ministry of Justice to ensure services are delivered safely, consistently and effectively. Langley Trust will continue to deliver the service in line with these requirements and remain accountable to the Ministry of Justice for its performance.
We welcome KPH staff into Langley Trust and look forward to building on the strong foundations established by West London Mission; continuing a Christian ethos, working with staff and partners, and continuing to provide high-quality support that helps people move forward with their lives.’
