The ‘Rooted, Loved, Affirmed’ Group Study Guide
The ‘Rooted, Loved, Affirmed’ Group Study Guide by Frances Miles, 2025
* The ‘Rooted, Loved, Affirmed’ Six-Week Group Study Guide is available free to download here. It is biblically based with input from the world around us, and reflective and practical in its outlook.
This is the Introduction to the Study Guide:

‘This six-session Study Guide is designed for those with a Christian faith or who are on a spiritual journey. It is ideally (but not exclusively) intended for use in groups, such as a Bible study, church group, or Christian fellowship. It works best if someone leads it, but it doesn't necessarily need to be the same person each time!
My vision for this study guide is to encourage those who follow it to look beyond the immediate context, exploring the relevance and impact of being rooted, loved, and affirmed in their lives and into the wider community.
There are occasions when I reference the chapter or section of the book, so ideally, if one of the group can bring a copy to each session, that would be helpful. You can purchase a copy of the book here. This is, however, a stand-alone study, which means that if you haven’t had an opportunity to read the book, it shouldn’t hinder your group discussions and personal reflections.’
Each session will typically include the following elements, with approximate timings:
What to bring with you, or what to read beforehand.
Opening Prayer and perhaps a worship song (10 mins).
Icebreaker – to encourage everyone to contribute (10-15 mins).
Input and Discussion (20-30 mins).
Reflection - eg a prayer, a Bible reading, a song, or an image (15 mins).
Call To Action. Sometimes this will be on a personal rather than group basis (varied)
Closing Prayer: This prayer is for any issues that come to mind during the session or for others (friends, family members, or the wider community) with current needs or concerns ( 5-10 mins).
The Back Cover Summary of the book:
Have you ever considered how your family, background, and relationships have shaped you? Through relatable stories and personal reflection, ‘Rooted, Loved, Affirmed’ explores the universal need to be acknowledged and encouraged. Discovering that we are truly known and deeply loved by God can transform us—and our relationships!
