When Paula Stringer saw an advert to work for debt counselling charity Christians against Poverty (CAP), she was working as Head of Production and Operations for BBC Sport, overseeing the coverage of huge events like the Olympics, and she wasn’t really looking to change jobs. But to her and her husband it felt that this was very much a divine nudge, coming, as it did, at a point where they themselves had come through the collapse of their family deli business, having to face debt and bankruptcy, so knew only too well the devastating and enormous impact it can have on individuals and families. She says that debt counselling not only got them through that time, but saved their marriage.

Now, as CEO of CAP, Paula’s own experience informs every aspect of her work, is indeed ‘the reason I do my job, driving every day and decision’.
