Safeguarding Forums

Each Connexional year, the District will host 2 Safeguarding Forums, offering a more in-depth and focused look at various strands of safeguarding work. Dates for upcoming forums will be listed here and in the Weekly Update. Currently forums are being held online (via Zoom). Resources from each forum will be made available on these pages. 

Forthcoming Forums are listed on the safeguarding training and events page. Registration is via Eventbrite. 

Forum Two | Safeguarding Audits | Held on Wednesday 24 March 2021


In recent years, there has been an increasing emphasis placed on safeguarding within a wide variety of organisations, and this has seen growth in organisations held accountable for their activities, processes and reporting structures.


Each circuit will be required to complete an annual audit confirming policies are in place as well as evidencing other safeguarding areas such as recruitment and case handling. The District Safeguarding Team will identify areas for improvement and circuits will be supported to improve safeguarding practices.

Forum One | DBS Checks and DDC | Held on Wednesday 11 November 2020


Throughout the year, the District team receive a considerable number of questions relating to DDC and the DBS checking process. In this forum District Safeguarding Officer, Becky Skinner, will lead a presentation on DBS checks with time for questions and case studies. 

Learning objectives include:

  • Gain a broader depth of general DBS knowledge

  • Have a greater insight on the differing levels of DBS and workforces

  • Develop awareness on the practicalities of the DDC system, DBS process and follow up actions.
