Worship Leaders
The worship of many churches in the London District is helped by the
service of a worship leader. We do not preach but carry out a number of
different roles in covering all other aspects of worship. Some of us
are gifted in a way that helps us lead music others specialise in
prayer and reading. In all cases we are called to enrich
congregational worship and to help the preacher to take the word of
God to our churches.
Most worship leaders are appointed by a church council to serve in one
church. This appointment is made after the completion of circuit led
training and a recommendation from the Local Preachers meeting. A
new course is currently being developed by London District with the
Connexion and it is hoped that this will be ready for use later in 2008.
If you feel passionate about worship but know that you are not called
to be a Local Preacher it may be time to explore the possibility of
becoming a worship leader. The first step is to talk to your minister.
When you have done this and if you are still looking for further
information contact the District Worship Leaders Secretary for
guidance and enthusiasm.
