Living God,
we thank you for the great diversity
of people
and the rich variety

of gifts with which
you have blessed us:

As we seek to be
good news
In our local communities and
this global City;

May the grace of your Son inspire us;

the wisdom of your Spirit teach us;

and the strength of your presence sustain us,

We ask this for your glory’s sake.
Amen.

This Week’s Prayer Focus

Global city focus:

Pray for London CITIZENS and their Strangers into Citizens campaign; Sanctuary seekers and those who work with them

Circuit City Focus
35/26 Wimbledon
Superintendent: Revd Margaret Adams

Give thanks & pray for:

  • The devotion of our worshippers, the spirituality both realised and latent of so many, and the challenges ahead that shakes us out of our comfort zones.
  • Our Superintendent who moves within the Circuit from Stoneleigh and Ruxley churches to those of Wimbledon and Raynes Park.
  • The new Minister, Revd Martine Stemerick who takes up her appointment in September.
  • That all our churches may be havens ’where every weakness may be safely known’, and where all, both ordained and lay, may exercise a Jesus centred ministry inside and outside our church walls.

We pray for those vulnerable adults and children and young people who are suffering from hurt and abuse today. Help us to do all we can to welcome and protect all people in our churches. Amen

Welcome to the London District of the Methodist Church

London is different! It is a place of exceptional diversity, vibrancy and energy. Its excitement, complexity and challenges are unequalled. The Methodist Church in London shares those qualities and our mission as disciples of Jesus Christ is to respond creatively to the opportunities and needs of this unique city.

In a pioneering collaborative structure three Chairs, Rev Jenny Impey and Rev Dr Stuart Jordan and Rev Ermal Kirby work with a team of paid and voluntary officers to support and develop the life of the District.

The team serves 22,000 registered members of Methodist Churches in London, and many more people who are involved in our work and worship.

Our calling within the Connexional witness of British Methodism is to be "Good News in a Global City"

Details of our work and the resources to support it can be found here.
