About Us

The Social Responsibility Commission  advises the District on policy and priorities for Methodist Social Responsibility involvement in London; it co-ordinates and advocates that involvement and encourages theological reflection on its nature and significance as an expression of Christian discipleship. The District Review defined our mission as:

To share the good news of Jesus Christ throughout Greater London and the surrounding areas, and to improve the well-being of people and their communities, by engaging pastorally and prophetically with the communities in which our churches are located and with the wider region.

NCVO Funding Central

A searchable guide to 4000+ sources of funding, grants, contracts and loan finance

Church Urban Fund A pool of resources and funding source for community projects in the poorest areas, with a particular focus on churches
London Catalyst Currently considering grants of up to £10,000 for charity/faith-groups/voluntary or community organisations
Together in Service Grants for faith based organisations and faith centres to run projects for their local communities

Mental Health

Rethink Mental Illness A charity specialising in mental health issues for over 40 years
Mind Providing support and advice to empower people suffering with mental health problems
Time to Change Almost 9 out of 10 people who experience mental health problems say they face stigma and discrimination. It's time to change.
Worship A useful resource including prayers, readings and hymns on mental health


The Extra Mile

A short film by Applecart, commissioned by the SRC, exploring the Weslian tradition of Social Action. Designed to help inspire a passion for caring for others and remind Methodists of the vital role social justice has had in forming the Methodist identity.
A useful Study Guide resource has also been produced by Dr Paul Kybird, to enable futher exploration and dicussion for individual, small group and church based devotion.
