Mobilising young people to speak up for justice and religious freedom
Take a stand for justice by joining Outcry, Christian Solidarity Worldwide’s youth and student programme. We are a passionate movement of young people who speak up for those who are persecuted for their faith, making a difference through prayer and by campaigning for religious liberty and human rights. Download our free 2010 Clamour pack, and get your group involved in; protesting on behalf of a Christian in China who has been imprisoned for distributing Bibles; taking part in our ‘Church Cancelled’ fundraising event focusing on young Christians who face challenges in meeting together; and praying for Christians in Eritrea who put their freedom on the line when they share the Gospel. Visit www.outcry-uk.org today to get involved!

How Beautiful Upon the Mountains by Madeline and Colin Windsor
Tells of a Journey across the United Kingdom, covering 4,500 miles by car and ferry over a seven week period, from Scotland to London, passing through 40 cities/towns sharing the Good News
of Jesus Christ and depicts the wonderful scenic views from the mountains & lochs of Scotland, the beautiful countryside of Northern Ireland, Wales & England, alongside city & town centres and also captures some history. Madeleine & Colin Windsor have written this book as a firsthand account of their Journey across the UK sharing about the scenery they saw and as committed Christians the reason they undertook the venture. The Christian message was shared up to five million people through radio stations, magazines, journals, TV and on the streets from the Outer Hebrides in Scotland to Penzance in Cornwall and into London from where the Journey started. The writers have been involved with Christian evangelism since the 1980's based in the London area and had a passion to go further than their immediate locality. Between them they have undertaken prison & hospital work, schools work, drop in centres for the homeless, providing accommodation for the homeless, dance in worship, the elderly, street evangelism.
Ecumenical Officers’ Consultation 2010
This Conference, which takes place at The Hayes, Swanwick from 11th to 13th October 2010,
marks the centenary of the Edinburgh Missionary Conference, often understood as the beginning of the modern Ecumenical Movement. It was a singular moment in the history and theology of mission and world Christianity. The Ecumenical Officers of the five Churches will continue the consultation from tea on 12th to lunch on 13th October, to reflect on the themes of the conference in relation to our work. The total cost of the Consultation is £127. For more information contact Elspeth Coke, Church House, Great Smith Street, London SW1P 3NZ. Tel No. 020 7898 1473.
Art by Ben Uri (a suggestion from Revd Geoff Cornell)
If people were fired up by the Methodist Art Collection at Wallspace, and can't wait until it reappears at the Guy Chester Centre in September, then check out the Ben Uri Gallery's Exhibition 'Cross Purposes', open till 23rd September. The Gallery is on Boundary Road, just off Abbey Road (the Beatles crossing is a bit too far to walk from). The interest of course is that Ben Uri is the Gallery of the Jewish Museum and the exhibition is on crucifixion - mostly Christian art, although there are three stunning Jewish artists (including a Chagall). A number of the artists are the same as we have in the Methodist collection. Much to think about.....
